Goldwings at Kaiteriteri Beach

x Cavalli Island

CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE - SOLD TO A PRIVATE OWNER

The owner of Cavalli Island Retreat (who prefers to keep a low profile) likes this place so much, he bought it twice.  When he sold it he realised he could not do without the sense of peace and tranquility the island gave him, so he bought it back.

Since then he has been slowly but tastefully developing it for small groups and has some superb plans in place for the future.  We believe if correctly steered over the next few years, Cavalli Island Retreat (actually on Step Island, one of the Cavalli group) will take its place at the top of accommodation in this country.

It is not a formal place - more a place to totally relax and do what you want.  The island is situated in the Cavalli Group which means you have a nature reserve on your doorstep, top-grade game fishing on your doorstep, world-class diving on your doorstep, and a lovely island from which to enjoy it all.

The island is a sanctuary for native Kiwi, has its own fascinating cave system, allows you to snorkel off the beach for crayfish and shellfish, and has beautiful views and ambience.  We have selected this island for a number of events including a gourmet dinner for the top management of ANZ Bank and for a Maori waka (canoe) attack and gift presentation on the occasion of the birthday of one of our clients.

At the moment the island has only two bedrooms, with a third 'indoor-outdoor' bedroom which can be converted from the beach pavilion.  This is the only drawback we see.  But extra family members can be accommodated in the 70ft luxury launch which comes with the property.  And further accommodation is planned.  Also on the island is probably the spa with the best view we have ever seen, manned full-time during your stay by experienced spa personnel.

15As one would expect, such an island does not come cheap (island + launch + runabout boat + beach gear + all meals + spa therapy), but if that does not matter, then we definitely recommend a few days in this place.
