Hone runs a superb Maori re-enactment tourism business in Northland.  This is just becoming recognised by mainstream operators and we wish him well.  However, for the last 5 years or so we have been working with Hone in putting together special Maori days for clients throughout Northland and now also further afield.  We have ambushed clients in the bush, attacked them by waka (canoe), sat with them in Maori hot pools, eaten traditional food with them, taken them catching eels, visited significant places, and throughout been introduced deeper and deeper into the warm culture of Maori. 

Hone has a lot of "mana", a lot of respect and prestige.  People are quiet when he talks but he is always respectful, happy and delighted to share his culture with people who want to understand.  He has an extremely warm personality and I can think of no better guide to escort people who want to understand Maori.  His knowledge is wonderfully deep and interesting.  You will finish your time together sad to leave, tired, but uplifted by the generosity of spirit of Hone, his wife, grandson, and people.
