Special Days

Over the years we have developed special relationships with a number of special people.  These people have delighted our special clients in various parts of the country.  We are now making these available as specialist day tours which can be booked as part of a tour or individually.  Prices typically start from NZ$1,000 for 4 people and increase where boats and helicopters are used.  Please note that most of our specialist guides here are not tourism professionals and have busy lifestyles - so tours are subject to availability.

Day Bay of Islands Tour - Maori Chief, History and Culture

Hone Mihaka has been working with us for a number of years and together we have done a lot in the Bay of Islands.  From tours of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds through to waka invasions of private islands, spiritual healing, bathing in natural pools, visits to and meals at a number of marae, learning to paddle a waka, fishing, eeling and so on.

Day Auckland Tour - Dave Nicholas, Wine Marketer

Dave consults a number of wineries on marketing and has extensive wine industry experience and contacts.  We can tailormake any sort of wine experience around this, focused on any aspect of the wine industry which may be of interest.

Day Auckland Tour - Art Galleries and Collections

A personal day hosted by a knowledgeable art buyer.  Specify what interests you and see public and private galleries and public and private collections.

Day Auckland Tour - Boardsailing with Bruce Kendall

Either enjoy the Auckland region windsurfing, kitesurfing or surfing.  Or, for those with a helicopter budget, we have put together days with a helicopter, special pod incorporating 2 sets of windsurf, kitesurf and surf gear, and a pilot/surfer.  Then use the helicopter to seek out whatever you like.

Day Auckland Tour - Drinks with an All Black

Not just any All Black.  One of the greats.  Grant Fox is our man.  Of course we can also put together all sorts of hospitality packages, tailored events, special places and a supporting cast of many All Blacks and ex-All Blacks.

Day Auckland Tour - Private Gardens

We have two landscape gardeners available to take people to public or private gardens and give an insight into New Zealand flora.

Day Auckland Tour - Rally Driving

Apparently unique in the world.  A rally school using champion drivers, current vehicles and part of the New Zealand official rally circuit.  Clients drive and are then driven.

Day Auckland Tour - Sailing with a Team New Zealand Sailor

Ian Stuart has competed in 3 Whitbread Round the World races and two America's Cups.  He is currently in charge of logistics at Team New Zealand.  He will either take our clients on the water personally, or he will arrange a full-on regatta experience with Team New Zealand in an America's Cup racing yacht.

Day Auckland Tour - Warbirds Harvard Divebombing

In South Auckland there are 6 2-seater aircraft from the 1930s.  We have put together an event where these are taken up together, wingtips 20ft apart, in a simulated formation divebombing mission of an island in the Hauraki.

Day Auckland Tour - West Coast Hiking

Auckland's West Coast is beautiful.  Black sand beaches and crashing surf which have been seen in films such as The Piano, Xena, Hercules etc.  The area is also crisscrossed with beautiful remote walking tracks suitable for people of all abilities.

Day Waitomo Tour - Private Caves and Guide

We have two of the most respected characters of the Waitomo region guiding for us.  They have been into every cave in the area, public and private.  Together we have put together something rather exclusive which can incorporate the public caves, but more importantly puts our clients into exclusive private ones.

Day Wanaka Tour - Helicopters and Jetboats

This is quite a special one, ideally starting from Silver Pine Lodge, just north of Wanaka.  Board your helicopter with a specialist nature pilot flying low over wild animals.  Land at a remote West Coast river, take a jetboat up to the estuary where your helicopter will be supporting two divers who are gathering a crayfish lunch.  Have lunch, and head back doing the same in reverse.

Day Queenstown Tour - Helicopter Adventure with Lydia Bradey

Lydia is the first female to climb Everest with no additional oxygen.  She lives in and loves the Wanaka region.  Together with her we have put together a highly successful day using a helicopter to see her favourite parts of Mount Aspiring National Park and Fiordland, gaining special one-off permissions from the Department of Conservation to land.  Walking can be included from basic to advanced levels.

Day Queenstown Tour - Winemaker, Grant Taylor

New Zealand Pinot Noir was put on the map in Central Otago by Gibbston Valley.  Their winemaker was Grant Taylor.  Grant now runs his own vineyard, Valli Wine, and kindly spends the occasional day with our clients.
