Moves for the New Season

Moves for the New Season

We all know that continuous evolution is a successful life strategy.  Wearied and battered after our 18-month effort culminating in our best season ever, trying to ignore the fact that a new season is around the corner, we have picked ourselves up and are moving ever forward with our vision for Ahipara.

Quite a number of new initiatives will be announced in due course, taking us ever forward in terms of experience, exclusivity, and value for money.  For the moment they are confidential as we have not yet finalised them.

On the non-confidential side, we are moving our office south from Auckland to Alexandra.  As Ahipara is a lifestyle business, a large part of the move is lifestyle related, especially as we are moving to a farm with horses for the kids, a trout river, motorcycle tracks and so on.  Business will continue as usual with an outage of about 3 days mid-June while our fileserver and computer systems are physically transported south.

The area is starting to get some traction as home of the rather special Central Otago Rail Trail cycle route.  It is also wonderfully devoid of mass tourism.  In finding our farm we've undertaken some research and will soon have a number of local activities available to those tourists who want to go well off the beaten track.  The obvious ones are using the rail trail for cyclists and horse riders, combined with authentic experiences and beautiful places.  We are already in the process of organising one of these tailor-made days for one of our North American agents.

But the Rail Trail is only one of the treasures of Central Otago.  It will be excellent in drawing visitors to the region, but the region and the authentic and rich characters who inhabit it, will provide much much more.  This will be a large focus for us in coming months.

Having said that, we will of course not forget the rest of the country, where we also have a number of other initiatives going forward.  This winter will see us marketing less than usual and putting more effort into product development, our favourite side of the business!
