This was our first time with Brazilians and our first time with motorbikes. What a blast! Ably supported by Mike Lester of South Pacific Motorcycle Tours, we showcased the South Island over a period of ten days. Being curious as to both motorbikes and Brazilians I elected to be the support vehicle driver for this tour and have emerged as a strong fan of both the bikes and the Brazilians.
Motorcycle touring poses its own challenges - shorter riding distances, selection of road types, safety, frequent stops, and interesting rest days. It was a lot of fun coming up this learning curve and I've started dusting off my own motorcycle license and making oblique comments about buying a bike to my wife! As usual, though, nothing replaces an expert guide, and Mike Lester is both an advanced motorcyclist and a warm human being. Combined with our special touch, people and places - this again showed to us that we are capable of exceeding expectations for any market and in any segment - so long as we are talking luxury. As always, it is a matter of finding the right specialists as well as people, places and events.
As for our wonderful Brazilians, I was most sad to see them go but happily they enjoyed our style so much they have contracted us for some more experiences - both motorcycle (in Europe - normally we only touch the South Pacific but they set us a challenge which I accepted) and sailing and diving vignettes in the South Pacific. I'm looking forward to putting more smiles on those faces in the future. Thanks guys. A most enjoyable two weeks.
