High-End Experiential Travel in New Zealand

Steve Latty

Why not take away a documentary of your time here?

Steve Latty

Steve Latty is one of our guides.  But nothing with Ahipara is ever simple.  He's not your normal sort of guide.  Since 1981 he's been found behind a camera, as a cameraman, cinematographer and director.  A lot overseas but more so in New Zealand.  A native of the South Island, he has been round the country a number of times with quite a number of interesting characters.

We first met Steve 10 years or so ago when a group bringing an Airbus from Europe wanted a video record of their time here.  Over 4 short days we filmed rally driving, a simulated formation dive bomb mission in old warbirds, luxury cruising, football on the beach etc.  In this photograph above he was with me when we took Traveller Made around the country a few months ago.  The video is about to appear.......  :)

Over the last 4 years or so Steve has been guiding some of our clients.   One thing he offers, as an experienced documentary maker, is to film and produce a record of the trips he guides.  Something I would recommend.  His technical know-how means he never interferes with action, and his experience means some of your experiences are recorded for ever, as they happened.  Natural, free-flowing, authentic.  A bit like Ahipara really....

And if you want to hear some stories, just keep him back at the end of the day and give him a glass or two.........
