Personal Service - A Growing Trend
While at ILTM in Cannes (the No1 international luxury tourism trade show) we were delighted to meet a growing number of top-end players who are talking increasingly about "personal service" as the goal of luxury clients and operators. The definition is to get your VIP whatever they want, from exclusive experiences through to the right doctor, fast. From something for their daughter's birthday through to a Maori ceremony on a private island. From the manager of the vineyard where their favourite wine is grown through to a fresh wild trout served by their own chef in the Mayor of Taupo's garden. (all, coincidentally, things we have done for our clients).
These luxury outbounders have a detailed knowledge of their clients and are highly sophisticated at evaluating the capabilities of DMCs. This detailed knowledge is passed onto VIP DMCs who then tailor a programme which is smooth and fits perfectly. This teamwork ensures the clients are fully understood and properly serviced wherever they go. This is the sort of service we love.
There are also a growing number of VIP DMCs specifically set up to meet those needs. Not large DMCs which cater to the needs of the corporate market and large groups, but the small, nimble, intelligent and networked DMCs focussed on the needs of VIPs.
It seems that we have been developing our own direction in New Zealand at the same time as a number of other companies were doing the same in the US, Brazil, Peru, South Africa, Australia, and a number of other destinations. We now find ourselves in excellent company at the point of the latest development in luxury travel - the "total service". Quite apart from the exciting networking opportunities this gives us it also now allows us to do something clients have been asking us for a while - provide introductions to similar companies around the world.
We are very excited about this new development, and look forward to hosting an ever-growing number of clients looking for something special. We have spent five years sourcing special things in New Zealand, and receive most of our satisfaction from implementing special things.
