Better than Huka!

I had to double-check our previous articles as I was sure I had written about Greenhill Lodge in the past.  Amazingly not!  This is one of my favourites, and one which many clients also rave about.  A lovely Italian couple over the New Year break came here from Huka Lodge, relaxed back into their armchairs, and told me they preferred it.

They were very happy to have been to Huka, to have seen and sampled one of the country's icons - but they were very happy here.  Explaining that the quality of the lodge was superb but it was less formal - more like a friend's place back home.  A place they can just stop and relax, confident that everything around them is working like clockwork and that they were sampling the highest quality of everything.  They were impressed by the level of attention to detail which the unflappable omni-capable Trevor makes look easy and loved the food.

The main lesson it taught me - having rediscovered Huka recently with its new user-friendly management and loving the sophistication of the 'uber design' - was not to forget the basics.  Most people still go on holiday to relax, and this is a beautiful place where no compromise has ever been made (to my knowledge), which is one of the most relaxing places in the country.

Coupled with some rather special local activities and guides, we definitely recommend as many nights as you can manage here.  Did I mention the excellent summer and exchange rates we're currently having?
