Often misunderstood, this city has grown to dwarf New Zealand's other cities. The reason, according to one eminent historian is lifestyle. I agree with him. This is not an easy city to understand for those who want to do it themselves.
Our clients have had an excellent time. With the maritime playground - second to none - of the Hauraki Gulf and its marine life, vineyards and beaches - and on the other side black sand beaches and crashing surf near mountainous rainforest - there really is a lot to do. The West Coast has been home to a number of films, from The Piano, to Xena and Hercules.
This is also the world's largest Polynesian city for those interested in South Pacific cultures. There are plenty of boutiques, restaurants, bars and cafes for those who have had an overdose of countryside.
New Zealand Regions
Any analysis of this country's regions will be either academic or subjective. This one is unashamedly subjective and open to constant improvement. Keeping abreast of everything wonderful and new which makes its appearance is impossible. It's a particularly enjoyable part of our job, but time and money - sadly - are not...

Focus on Auckland
Now that the busy season is winding down in New Zealand, we have had a chance to think a little about how the market has moved on and how we can work with more people to everyone's benefit.
One message which we are receiving at the moment is that inbounders are increasingly comfortable with using regional destination managers to enhance...

Auckland Rugby Expertise
A few months ago we put a programme together for 200 Caltex delegates, involving Grant Fox, Kerre Woodham and rugby training specialists from Auckland Rugby. The event went very well of course.
Mark Ama, the man who organised the rugby training part of the event for us, is now opening up for business. He is currently putting together his...

A Beach is a Beach - right?
Well, not quite. Like many things, they seem similar on the surface but once one gets below the surface they're all different. Consider these different beaches we have used (and yes, most of them were deserted):
- a beach in the far north where the top quad bike ride in the country takes people up 300ft sand dunes. Remote and wild.
- a...

Auckland City Takes Tourism Initiative
We were delighted when Jean-Michel was asked onto the Steering Committee looking at the future of tourism for Auckland. Quite apart from the recognition this showed, it also allowed small innovative businesses a voice in this process. The process is well under way and the steering committee has had two good meetings. The ideas coming through...

Elegant Chauffeuring!
What a treat to hear from you. Mark and I took forever to become accustomed to not depending on you to organize our days. We finally recovered from our jet lag, but we both still feel so attached to you and to NZ and so relatively unattached to the subsequent people and places we travelled. I think that you are setting an...

A Perfect Day at Eagle's Nest
Eagle's Nest was brilliant. We could have stayed there much longer! We particularly enjoyed the kitesurfing, miri miri, gourmet barbecue and our quad bike ride with Greg Hall of Tua Tua.
